As a Planned Parenthood Activist, as well as a Health Educator, I find this book to be most helpful in my health education efforts. I feel that every mother owes it to her daughter to buy her this book. It contains the four C's: it is comprehensive, complete, cost-worthy, and CORRECT. Bravo, Planned Parenthood!! Congratulations on a job well done. I plan on buying a copy for every woman I know....it's required reading for every woman!

Oskar Kokoschka was best known as a German expressionist painter in the early decades of the 20th Century. But he was also authored of a large body of plays, poems, essays, and autobiographical stories. Ably translated into English by Michael Mitchell, Plays And Poems is a collection of all Kokoschka's plays and poetry, plus one short prose passage, and will give an American readership an excellent introduction to a body of work that elemental, intense, hallmarked by ecstatic language, occasionally grotesque imagery, and the author's ideal of a humanity guided by reason, regardless of German history and his own personal experiences of conflict and oppression. Plays And Poems is a highly recommended addition to academic libraries in general, and 20th Century Germanic literature collections in particular.

A goober is the old name for peanuts and A POCKETFUL OF GOOBERS is a biography about George Washington Carver, the scientist who made peanuts famous. To be completely honest, I didn't know much about Carver and therefore found this children's book entertaining, educational, and informative. For instance, I learned that Carver was a gifted artist as well as a scientist and that later in life he became good friends with Henry Ford. The biography is written in a simple style that elementary students will find easy to read and Carver's life is so interesting they should find the book interesting.

SWOAM -- POOL PARTY PANIC is an excellent, exciting read that will not be put down! Like some of its predecessors (ALEX YOU'R GLOWING, BET YOU CAN'T, and FROZEN STIFF), this firery tale puts Alex into a desperate situation where quick thinking, decisive action, and resolve (not powers!) save the day (and her life). There is real use of characters here. The plot is molded to the characters, not the other way around as in most of the "preachy" AM books. This story, along with the above mentioned, should be strong contenders as source material for the upcoming Alex Mack motion picture!

This book is the total package--an encyclopedic reference in an easily read and comprehended format. The practical perspective of the world's authorities is conveyed in every chapter. This book belongs on every physician's book shelf. A valuable reference as well as an up to date review. What a wonderful gift for yourself or any physician you know!

As a relatively new Episcopalian, I have found this book to be the best, most comprehensive statement of what Episcopalians believe. Leonel L. Mitchell examines every section of the BCP 1979 and discusses the theology of each of those sections. He tells us what praying these words means to us in our life in Christ and that participating in our liturgies becomes a spiritual participation in the life of Christ. In addition, Mitchell makes us aware of how this faithfully relates to the tradition of the Church. And since this is what I expect from such a commentary, I cannot recommend this book any more highly.

a very interesting read for the person who wants to understand how to live a long and healthy life. Dr Kurk explains in a very understandable way how to live a healthier life
